Product Review - Garnier Pure Active Make-up Remover Purifying Gel 2 in 1

Garnier Pure Active Make-up remover purifying gel 2 in 1

Where face washes and makeup removers are concerned, I like the all in ones. I have specifics I look for in a face wash and I tend to use a face wash for a while then move on to another one. I had yet to find one I liked completely... has that search ended? well read on and find out...

Here's the blurb on Garnier's site
Perfume free, this foaming gel combines anti-bacterial Salicylic Acid with soothing make-up remover agents, providing a double efficacy

1. Deep cleansing and targets imperfections: effectively unclogs pores, helping to clear shine and impurities and helps protect against the appearance of imperfections.
2. Removes face and eyes make-up: removes all traces of make-up even waterproof, without rubbing. Suitable for use on the eyes and leaves no greasy film.

Results: impurities, shine and waterproof make-up are removed in one step. Your skin is perfectly cleaned and purified.
Firstly what do I look for in a face wash?
I am lazy... where face washing is concerned. I don't want to have to cleanse, tone and moisturise twice a day so I love the products that promise to do more than one thing.
The things I look for are this:

  1. Salicylic acid... I know its a brill acne fighter so I tend to stick ti products that have this in it
  2. clean feel... I look fro a product that makes my face feel as clean as it should be... i.e a tingling feeling
  3. I generqally like a product with some sort of scrub to it, I feel it cleans my face better
  4. something that can be used twice a day, as I wash my face morning and night obviously, i don't want to have to use 3 or 4 different face washes in a day however I know that harsh scrubs should be used sparingly and even more so i read its better not to use a scrub in the morning as it strips your face of skin and can make you prone to sun damage.
What appealed to me about this product?
  1. It has saIicyllic acid in it
  2. its a 2 in 1 product that can be used to remove eye makeup (most face washes I've used are crap at removing eye makeup)
  3. Its a handy dispenser bottle
  4. It was reasonably priced at £3.33 (RRP £4.99)
  5. I've used Garnier products before and like them.
For how long have aI used the product?
I bought  the product at the start of August and began using it around the first week of August before I went on holiday. I took the product on holiday with me and used it twice a day there too. so its been about a month now.

What do I think about the product?
I have to say I'm pretty impressed with it. I was initially unsure after first trying it as It doesn't have any sort of texture to it, its purely a gel, and it doesn't give the tingling just clean feeling I like, HOWEVER, I do know my face is properly clean, as it looks super clean, and on then testing with face cleansing wipes, there's no makeup left on my skin. for removing eye makeup its been fab. I wear brown eyeliner and mascara alot and it removes it all brilliantly without stinging my eyes or leaving a residue. my skin was having a bit of a breakout and combined with increasing my water intake again, my skin is clearing up nicely.

its also lasting me well, still about half a bottle after 2 washes per day for about a month now. I may just have to buy another bottle when its done and give it another months trial!! :)

the pros and cons are summed up below

PRO's
affordable
good size of bottle(200mls- i'm only halfway through the bottle after 2 daily washes for a month already)
really removes all my eye makeup (without leaving residue)
doesn't sting my eyes
perfume free
has salicyllic acid in it
nice foamy gel
has helped clear up my acne (along with drinking water)
no residue on skin
doesn't irritate my skin

CON's
for me i miss the tingling cool sensation
I also miss the scrub formula

so there ye go... defo worth a try if you've combination skin.

I'd give the product 4* out of 5* purely because i'd love a tingling feeling... that's just me being picky though!!

do you guys have anything you'd like  reviewed? or do you have a favourite face wash you can recommend to me and my pickiness.. please comment below and let me know!!

N xx
